BERLIN, July 7, 2026 – Today, ZULA Kids announces the release of the new picture book, „In the Language of the Land“. Designed for children ages five to eight, the story provides a gentle exploration of empathy, environmental awareness, and the impact of small acts of kindness. The book is available starting today via the ZULA Kids online shop and retail partners.
In „In the Language of the Land“, the main character, Amal, notices the rhythms of the natural world, from flowing rivers to blooming flowers. While others may not always grasp this deep connection to nature, Amal discovers that listening, observing, and caring are powerful ways to engage with the world. With encouragement, Amal finds a way to share a unique voice through a small act of kindness that blossoms into a welcoming community garden.
„With this story, we want to show children that even the quietest voices can make a difference,“ says Janine Vanessa Heinrich, Co-Founder of ZULA Kids. „Amal’s journey highlights how noticing the world around us and acting with kindness can foster connection.“
The narrative is written by Aanya Ismail, who draws on a lifelong love of nature and storytelling. The illustrations by Ariane Folawiyo bring the story to life with sensitivity and imagination. This release is part of the publisher’s 12 new titles created during the annual Book-A-Thon, a mentoring initiative dedicated to providing a platform for creators from underrepresented communities and supporting them in bringing their creativity into the world.
