At ZULA, we believe every child deserves to see themselves positively in the media they consume.

We're a multimedia platform on a mission to make children's media more inclusive, accessible, and inspiring. From diverse picture books to assistive digital experiences, we create joyful, empowering tools that celebrate the richness of every child’s background, language, and learning style.

ZULA started as a grassroots initiative — a nonprofit community that supported underrepresented authors and illustrators to tell their stories. Today, we've grown into a purpose-driven company with the same heart: to challenge the status quo of publishing and build a world where every child can dream big.

Why I am doing this: "Growing up between cultures, I rarely saw myself in the stories I loved. As an adult, I realized just how powerful representation can be — not just for confidence, but for connection, curiosity, and belonging. ZULA is my way of rewriting that experience for the next generation."

Fun Fact: "I used to be terrified of public speaking. Now, I host a podcasts and pitch ZULA for a living!"

Alain Missala

Why I am doing this: "The lack of inclusive books in children’s literature, inspired me to make a difference. As a black father in Germany, my mission is to transform the narratives shaping young minds."

Fun Fact: "My Nickname is Kitty Cat."

Why I am doing this: "I hope for a loving and inclusive society where we all respect each other and flourish. Sharing diverse stories and creativity brings us together; let's be each other's inspiration."

Tobi Ibikunle

Why I am doing this: "I aspire to develop ZULA into a product that impacts and enriches numerous lives. My goal is to build a community where every individual feels fully acknowledged and understood. ZULA is what I would have needed growing up."

Fun Fact: "Securing a huge partnership with a tech giant with only 200 subscribers on YouTube."

Why I am doing this: "Because every great story deserves a wagging tail and a happy audience. I make sure the team takes their walk breaks, celebrates the little wins, and always remembers to lead with joy."

Fun Fact: "I’ll drop everything (literally) for a game of fetch — especially if there’s a squeaky ball involved."
