BERLIN, July 7, 2026 – Today, ZULA Kids announces the release of the new picture book, „Einfach Mama.“ Designed for children ages five to eight, the story provides a gentle exploration of belonging, identity, and the courage to stand up for the people we love.
„Einfach Mama“ follows Sammy, who often finds words disappearing when faced with challenging situations. When people repeatedly mistake Sammy's mother for someone else because of how she looks, Sammy eventually finds the courage to speak up and proudly say, „That's my mum!“ The narrative serves as a vital resource for caregivers, educators, and teachers, offering a meaningful way to discuss race, appearance, and the celebration of diverse families with children.
„Einfach Mama is an invitation to celebrate the diversity of family identities,“ says author Esther Donkor. „We want to provide children with tools to navigate their environment with confidence and to experience that their family structure is valuable and unique.“
The narrative is written by author Esther Donkor. The expressive illustrations were created by Irem Kurt. This release is part of the publisher’s 12 new titles created during the annual Book-A-Thon, a mentoring initiative dedicated to providing a platform for creators from underrepresented communities and supporting them in bringing their creativity into the world.
