BERLIN, July 7, 2026 – Today, ZULA Kids announces the release of the new bilingual picture book (German–Spanish) „Bienvenido a mi mundo.“ Designed for children ages five to eight, the story provides a gentle exploration of emotional regulation, identity, and family connection.
In „Bienvenido a mi mundo,“ Kate experiences one of those afternoons where everything feels too loud, too bright, and too overwhelming. When her routines are disrupted, her world begins to spiral. With the help of familiar habits, comforting sounds, and her family’s love, Kate slowly finds her calm again. The narrative serves as a vital resource for caregivers and educators, offering a meaningful way to discuss overwhelm, resilience, and self-acceptance with children.
„This story is meant to be a safe harbor,“ says Mel, the book’s author. „By showing how Kate navigates her emotions, we want to remind children that they are never alone in these moments and that they are loved and accepted exactly as they are.“
The lyrical narrative is written by Mel, an author and activist with Peruvian roots dedicated to increasing the visibility of bilingual families. The expressive illustrations were created by Laura Lohs, an illustrator with Cape Verdean heritage. This release is part of the publisher’s 12 new titles created during the annual Book-A-Thon, a mentoring initiative dedicated to providing a platform for creators from underrepresented communities and supporting them in bringing their creativity into the world.
